Pray for our dear friends in Texas and other parts where they are getting too much rain. We in Alabama however are lucky to have any rain at all. Farmers are lamenting. I have not stewed one pot of decent peas all summer. Two days ago the heavens surprised us with big showers. My little frog rain gauge recorded six inches! Today another surprise, a very light rain shower. The type that you let your kids play in because there is no thunder and lightening. Though I passed on the dancing part, (because I was busy carting my tropicals outside to water
), my middle son could not resist. He the soon to be big eleven year old who prefers baseball over anything in the world could not stop smiling, arms extended out in prayer form, turning round and round. By the end of it he was soaked and dissapointed that the rain had stopped. Perhaps Mother Nature is practicing creative deprivation on my son. As a soon to be pre-teen he needed to be reminded of the simple beauty of a rain shower. Maybe next time he is watching t.v. or playing some gosh awful video game he will break for rain... a Mother can only dream.
